Traffic Court Records in Pleasants County
State-law traffic tickets in Pleasants County open in Magistrate Court. Clerk Pam Cox keeps those files in Room B-6 of the county courthouse. The MCRSearch tool shows public case information, though not the filed documents themselves. A city ordinance ticket belongs to the Municipal Court that issued it. Belmont posts a monthly municipal court page with city-linked payments. St. Marys mentions its municipal court but posts no docket or calendar search.
A Pleasants County traffic court record can give you the citation or case number, the charge, the answer date, later settings, the plea, the disposition, costs, and payment status. For what actually happened, the court file is the place to look. Check the face of the ticket first. Location alone does not decide which court holds the case.
Pleasants County Magistrate Traffic Route
The Pleasants County Magistrate's Office handles lower-court work across Pleasants County. That includes nearly every traffic ticket written here. Magistrate Rule 7 sets a firm rule of its own. A citation must name the alleged offense and give a date certain to answer or appear. For a state-law ticket, run a docket search in MCRSearch first. Then call Pam Cox at 304-684-7197 about a court date, a plea route, the amount owed, or a document. Magistrates Mindy Hadley and Dawna Taylor sit in Rooms B-8 and B-7.
The state judiciary's Pleasants County page publishes the official county court map. It lays out where each office and courtroom sits.

That map helps you match a Pleasants County traffic case to the clerk and magistrate offices that keep the docket. Knowing which office holds the file saves a wasted trip.
How to Look Up a Traffic Ticket
Have the citation number and issuing court handy if you can. MCRSearch takes a first name, last name, or case number. It can return up to 30 results. The Magistrate Court Payment System is narrower. It demands an exact Citation ID, Case ID, or Payment Plan ID. No Pleasants County match? The clerk's phone, counter, public terminal, mail, fax, and written-request routes all still work.
- Read the ticket and identify Magistrate Court, Belmont, or St. Marys as the issuing court.
- Search MCRSearch for state-law case information by name or case number.
- Use the payment system only when the ticket supplies an exact supported ID.
- Call Pam Cox, call the issuing city, or visit the relevant counter when the case is missing.
- Confirm the Pleasants County court date, plea route, amount, and response deadline from the current record.
Put the case number, charge or document name, date range, format, delivery details, and your contact information in any written request. You can also review magistrate records at the public terminal in the clerk's office.
Pleasants County Citation ID Search
The Magistrate Court Payment System works by exact ID only. It is not a general name search. Three identifier routes appear on the screen. A county selector sits beside the citation field. Copy every character straight from the Pleasants County paper rather than guessing at a format.
| Field | Type | Format or use |
|---|---|---|
| Citation ID Number | Text | Exact ID, example ######### |
| Citation County | Dropdown | Select Pleasants when it is the issuing county |
| Case ID Number | Text | ##-M##X-##### or M##M-########## |
| Payment Plan ID | Text | Example MC##-##### |
| Search / Clear | Buttons | Run or reset the exact-ID query |
The official payment interface appears in the capture below.

The system's design shows why a Pleasants County citation number matters so much. One wrong character and the search fails, so this screen cannot replace MCRSearch or a call to the clerk.
Finding Your Traffic Court Date
The citation must state a date certain to answer or appear. Later court action can reset that date. So compare the paper against the latest docket or notice. Pleasants County posts no standalone daily traffic calendar. MCRSearch, the clerk's underlying file, a mailed notice, and direct confirmation with the court are the dependable channels.
| Citation Number | Use the exact identifier, such as #########, from the ticket. |
|---|---|
| Court | Pleasants Magistrate Court or the issuing Belmont or St. Marys Municipal Court. |
| Date & Time | The answer or appearance setting on the current citation or notice. |
| Courtroom | Confirm the room or city location with the custodian before travel. |
| Status | Pending, paid, disposed, reset, or another current court state. |
A reset is not a dismissal. For a magistrate date, call Pam Cox. Belmont City Hall, at 304-665-2160, handles its third-Wednesday municipal court. For a city citation in St. Marys, call City Hall at 304-684-2401.
Pleasants County City Citation Split
Belmont's official court page says Municipal Court sits on the third Wednesday of each month. The location is City Hall council chambers. Its linked vendor takes municipal citation payments and adds a fee of 2% plus $1. Expect to enter Name, Address, Phone Number, and Citation Number. The vendor is payment-only. It shows no Belmont docket, plea, document images, or disposition.
St. Marys posts no municipal citation search or court calendar. Its official Police page confirms the municipal-court functions. So call City Hall or use police non-emergency to find the record keeper. A state-law ticket issued inside either city may still belong in Pleasants Magistrate Court. The statute or ordinance named on the paper settles the route.
Paying or Contesting a Ticket
The citation controls the response date. Paying and contesting do not produce the same court act. Rule 7 allows guilty or no-contest procedures under stated conditions. You may enter a not-guilty traffic plea in person or by mail to Pleasants County Magistrate Court, while DUI, reckless driving, certain license charges, and injury-related matters carry special in-person procedures.
| Paying the Ticket | Contesting the Ticket |
|---|---|
| Follow the plea and payment instructions on the citation. | Enter a not-guilty plea through the issuing court's approved route. |
| Use MFP only with an exact magistrate ID. | Confirm the trial or hearing setting with the clerk. |
| Review the $2 state online transaction fee. | Keep proof of a mailed plea and verify receipt. |
| Belmont adds 2% plus $1 through its city-linked vendor. | Follow Belmont or St. Marys instructions for a municipal ticket. |
Missed Pleasants County Date: Rule 7 directs clerk notice to the prosecutor and DMV after a covered failure to answer or appear, generally within 15 days unless the person responds sooner. State law can lead to a license suspension, and a court may issue a warrant or capias. Contact the issuing court and DMV as separate steps.
Pleasants County Five-Day Notice Rule
West Virginia Code § 17C-19-4 sets a notice floor. For a qualifying misdemeanor appearance, you get at least five days' notice. You can also demand a hearing sooner yourself. That clock protects notice, nothing else. It is not a grace period that starts running from the date stamped on a Pleasants County citation. So work from your real response date. Raise any scheduling conflict with the court directly.
Rule 7 adds another tool. A pretrial motion can ask the magistrate to dismiss a traffic citation on the prescribed form. The prosecutor then has 10 days after delivery to object. No objection, and the magistrate may dismiss. The official Magistrate forms catalog carries the form itself. It is listed as Motion to Dismiss Traffic Citation SCA-M340NP.
The catalog's traffic entries are laid out on that official page.

Court Traffic Record vs Driver Record
Two different offices hold two different files. The Pleasants County court record, kept by Pam Cox or by the issuing city, tracks the court case itself. The West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles keeps a separate driving record, along with any licensing actions reported to it. Neither file can stand in for the other.
| Court Traffic Record | Driver Record | |
|---|---|---|
| Kept By | Pleasants Magistrate Clerk or Municipal Court | West Virginia DMV |
| Shows | Citation, charge, settings, plea, disposition, costs, and payment status | Reported convictions, points, suspensions, and licensing actions |
| Access | MCRSearch, MFP, city contact, clerk counter, terminal, or copy request | DMV record-request channel |
A missing court result has many possible causes: wrong court, a spelling mismatch, a recent filing, a result limit, or a restricted record. None of them answers a DMV status question.
Pleasants County Failure-to-Appear Chain
Miss a deadline on a covered citation and a chain reaction begins. Rule 7(e) requires notice to the prosecutor and the DMV after a failure to answer or appear. That notice usually goes out within 15 days unless the person responds sooner. West Virginia Code § 17B-3-3A then directs DMV action once the court gives notice. Section 62-4-17 covers criminal nonappearance and its related notice. A magistrate can issue compulsory process where authorized.
The official magistrate criminal rules lay out the full framework. That page covers the traffic plea, dismissal, and failure-to-appear process.

Note: check the Pleasants County case and any DMV action with their separate custodians.
Fees and Copies
Start by finding the case in MCRSearch, then request the document from Pam Cox for a Pleasants County magistrate traffic file. Administrative Rule 11 fixes the published copy and fax charges. No certified-copy surcharge is listed separately, so ask the clerk for the total and which payment methods are accepted.
| Item | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Magistrate photocopy | $0.25 per page | Unreasonable bulk requests may be delayed or denied. |
| Magistrate fax | $2 per page | Transmission charge under Administrative Rule 11. |
| MFP online payment | $2 per transaction | Added to the court amount. |
| Belmont vendor payment | 2% plus $1 | City-published merchant charge. |
| Certified copy | Confirm with custodian | No separate Pleasants charge is published. |
Give the Pleasants County case number, the exact document, the number of pages or copies, whether you want certification, and how it should be delivered. A payment receipt is not the same thing as a court record.
Pleasants County Traffic Copy Request
Precision matters when you write in. Name Pleasants County Magistrate Court or the correct city court. Give the citation or case number. Identify the document and add an approximate date. Ask for something concrete. That could be an existing ticket, docket sheet, plea, order, disposition, or payment record, not a new summary. Confirm whether mail or fax works and whether payment must arrive first.
MCRSearch serves as the online index. Room B-6 is the clerk counter, with a public terminal on site. If a case is missing or too recent, Pam Cox's phone is the fallback. Belmont and St. Marys each hold their own municipal records. Together these channels cover you even when an exact-ID payment search fails.
