Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Pleasants County Court Docket does not retain or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or contact submission as needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical information when a page loads:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help show how visitors move through the site, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine that traffic information. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Pleasants County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of case records or court dockets. It explains how to reach the Pleasants County Circuit Clerk, Magistrate Clerk, courts, WVPASS, and MCRSearch. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is never assembled into consumer reports or third-party case profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy policies, retention rules, and disclosure practices govern data entered there, and we do not control those terms. Review the provider's policy before submitting information.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Pleasants County offices, West Virginia courts, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal details.
Some advertising providers may track activity across websites to select ads. That process occurs on their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If such data is identified, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection laws may provide additional rights. West Virginia Code §29B-1-3 concerns access to government records held by custodians, while §51-4-2 and Trial Court Rule 10.04 address public court-record inspection and copying. Trial Court Rule 15A.26 covers access to nonsealed e-filed dockets and documents through the Circuit Clerk. Those authorities do not convert this private site into a public agency. At a minimum, you may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. Any revision will be posted here with an updated effective date, so visitors should review it from time to time.
