Find Pleasants County Court Dates

Start with the court that holds your case when you need a Pleasants County court calendar. There is no single public daily calendar page here; dates come from case dockets, filed notices, and the clerk's current records. Circuit and Family matters run through the circuit channel. Traffic tickets, misdemeanors, and other lower-court matters run through the magistrate channel. A city ordinance case may stay with a municipal court instead. Match the newest docket entry against the signed setting notice, and confirm directly with the clerk when the date, room, or remote-hearing details leave you unsure.

The Pleasants County Court Calendar

Pleasants County posts no single searchable court calendar on its official county or judiciary pages. A Circuit hearing still leaves a trail. Look for it in WVPASS case activity or in an order filed with the Pleasants County Circuit Clerk. Magistrate dates work the same way. Check the Magistrate Case Record Search result. Then check the file held by the Pleasants County Magistrate Court Clerk. Whatever you find, trust the current notice or signed order. Do not rely on an old docket printout, a general term date, or a note from an earlier phone call.

Several courts share one courthouse. Their settings never merge into a single Pleasants County court calendar. Circuit and Family material sits with the Pleasants County Circuit Clerk. Magistrate dates live in the magistrate file. Belmont runs a monthly municipal session that it publishes. St. Marys offers no dedicated online municipal calendar. So start by naming the court that set the hearing, then go to that office for the court docket.

Pleasants Circuit Terms Are Context

Pleasants Circuit terms follow a fixed rule. Under West Virginia Trial Court Rule 2.03, terms begin on the second Monday in January, the third Monday in May, and the fourth Monday in September. Those dates structure the term calendar. They do not put a hearing date on every pending case.

A term is a formal stretch of court business. A setting is one event in one case. Term dates give context only; the exact date, time, judge, purpose, and appearance method come from the current case record.

Note: A Circuit term date alone is not proof that a specific Pleasants County hearing happens that day.

How to Find Your Court Date

Begin with the case number or exact name printed on the filed papers. The official West Virginia Court Record Access page splits Circuit from Magistrate access, which keeps you out of the wrong portal.

  1. Identify Circuit, Family, Magistrate, or Municipal Court from the citation, notice, or caption.
  2. For Circuit matters, use WVPASS, narrow to Pleasants County, and read the newest activity and setting document.
  3. For Magistrate matters, use MCRSearch by number or name. It returns up to 30 records but no document downloads.
  4. Call the Circuit Clerk at 304-684-3513 or Magistrate Clerk Pam Cox at 304-684-7197. Ask for the current date, time, room, and appearance method.
  5. Visit 301 Court Lane during posted weekday hours. A magistrate public terminal is a supported in-person route.
  6. Compare the clerk record with the latest signed order, courthouse posting, and information from counsel.

A written request can pull the order. Send it by mail, fax, or email. For an imminent Pleasants County court date, though, a call is faster. Give the clerk the court, caption, case number, document, and date range. No new report needs to be created.

Pleasants Scheduling Orders Control

One official Pleasants order shows why the filed document is the specific-date authority. It names case CC-37-2018-C-2 and the judge. It also gives an exact hearing date, a 1:00 p.m. time, and remote and in-person options side by side. Microsoft Teams details, a conference ID, and an e-file reference code are included too.

Read the whole order. Do not stop at the first date in the docket. A remote link may cover one named hearing only. Confidential proceedings cannot be copied, recorded, broadcast, or shared. Recording even a public hearing requires written authorization from the judicial officer.

Reading a Court Setting

A setting is one scheduled event, not the whole case. Read each field, then compare it with the latest Pleasants County docket activity.

DateThe calendar day in the newest notice or order.
TimeThe stated start for the hearing, conference, docket call, or trial event.
CourtroomThe room, office, or remote forum named by the court.
JudgeThe judicial officer assigned to conduct the event.
Setting TypeThe purpose, such as scheduling, motion, plea, trial, sentencing, or review.
Appearance MethodIn person, Microsoft Teams, telephone, or another expressly approved method.

When a setting lists no clear contact, the Pleasants judiciary directory names the proper office. Circuit, Family, and Magistrate personnel appear in separate listings.

Pleasants Setting Terms in Plain Words

Pleasants County court calendar entries label events by purpose. The county publishes no code sheet, so do not guess at shortened codes.

Scheduling hearing
A session used to set deadlines or later proceedings.
Status conference
A check on progress or readiness for the next stage.
Preliminary examination
A Magistrate probable-cause hearing on a felony warrant.
Continuance
A court-approved move to a later date.
Remote hearing
A proceeding attended through approved video or phone instructions.

A notice of setting gives the date and time. It also states the purpose. It does not show the final outcome. Check the docket later for an order, disposition, or new setting.

Note: Save the full case number, because names alone may return several Magistrate records.

Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations

A continuance request is not an automatic new date. The Pleasants sample order required a written motion within three business days of entry. That deadline belongs to that order alone. Read the controlling order. Ask counsel or the court about the correct procedure.

A moved setting may generate a new order, a docket event, or both. Until relief is granted, appear as directed. Do not assume cancellation. A portal result may vanish, a link may fail, or word may spread that the matter moved. Confirm the change and get the updated notice.

Pleasants Calendar Backup at Court

Remote tools fail sometimes. Older activity may never have gone online. The Pleasants County Circuit Clerk's records hub sits in Room 201. The Magistrate Clerk keeps lower-court files in Room B-6. The state confirms public terminals in magistrate clerk offices. Call ahead to confirm where the terminal is and what help is available.

The courthouse sits at 301 Court Lane, St. Marys, WV 26170. Weekday hours run 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bring the court name, case number, caption, event type, and a rough date. Circuit date questions go to 304-684-3513 or Judge Timothy Sweeney's office at 304-684-3274. For Magistrate calendar questions, call Pam Cox at 304-684-7197.

What To Do If You Miss a Setting

Act promptly. If you have counsel, make that call first. Then phone the clerk for the court that set the event. Ask whether an order, warrant, new date, or other Pleasants County docket entry has been filed. The clerk can report the record but cannot cancel judicial action or give legal advice.

Missed a Setting? A missed appearance can lead to court action, including an authorized warrant or other case-specific consequences.

Call the proper Pleasants County clerk at once and obtain the current docket status and new instructions.

Consult a licensed attorney about how to address the missed hearing before appearing or filing a request.

MCRSearch can display a later Magistrate event, yet the system will not show you the order behind it. WVPASS may pick up new Circuit activity on the case. Only the clerk can confirm where things stand once a setting has been missed.

Pleasants Municipal Calendar Routes

Belmont Municipal Court holds its sessions in council chambers. Sessions fall on the third Wednesday of each month. That schedule is not a case notice. Bring your citation number and call Belmont City Hall at 304-665-2160 to confirm the session applies to you.

St. Marys takes a different shape. Its pages mention municipal courts but post no dedicated docket or calendar. Call City Hall at 304-684-2401 or try the police non-emergency or recorder route. Some state-law citations land in Magistrate systems instead. The agency that issued the ticket is your best clue to where it lives.

Have the municipal citation in hand when you call. Ask whether the matter stays in city court or was transferred. Ask whether it was paid or still waits for a date. A city payment screen is not a Pleasants County court calendar. A payment confirmation also does not clear every related court event. If the issuing agency points you to Magistrate Court, run the same check in MCRSearch. Confirm the date with Pam Cox.
